Antique 9ct Gold Mourning Ring Size Q (2g)
Crafted from 9ct gold, this antique mourning ring is a timeless piece that encapsulates both historical elegance and enduring quality. The ring, size Q, features a striking black main stone that adds a touch of solemnity to its classic design. With its memorial theme, the ring serves as a poignant reminder of a loved one, making it a significant addition to any collection. Its subtle gold colour complements the sophisticated aesthetic of vintage jewellery enthusiasts, while its unique design ensures it stands out as a statement piece.
Mourning jewellery was a distinct style of jewellery popular during the Georgian era (1714–1837), particularly in England. These pieces were created to commemorate the deceased and often carried deep emotional and symbolic meaning for those left behind.
. Note: This mourning ring seems to be stamped ‘E’: I have photographed the stamp. I can’t see any gold stamp, however the auction assured me it was tested and this era did not always stamp gold.
. Condition: Purchased from an antique auction there are some age commensurate surface wear and signs of use. Some tiny fissures under the gold panel; I have tried to photograph it as closely as possible. (see all photographs before purchasing)
